Moral of this Story
United States
Приєднався 26 лип 2018
Movies do more than entertain. Movies affect us and move us deep down. They take us to another place, awaken something inside, and return us breathless to our seats. The filmmakers themselves may not fully understand what they have tapped into - It just felt right for the story - for the editing. It was a story that needed to be told.
There are many ways to interpret a movie. Here we attempt to dive deep into the themes and symbols - to try to understand why it resonates, to find the pearl at the center, the takeaway, the moral of this story.
My goal is to help people better understand themselves by helping them understand the movies and shows that resonate with them.

Pan's Labyrinth: A Cinematic Ode to Hope Beyond Existence
Переглядів 1,3 тис.2 місяці тому
The meaning of Pan's Labyrinth can be found in the words spoken in the eulogy. Because the paths to the Lord are inscrutable. Because the essence of His forgiveness lies in His word and in His mystery. Because although God sends us the message, it is our task to decipher it. Because when we open our arms the earth takes in only a hollow and senseless shell. Far away now is the soul in its etern...

At the end of the Hunger Games movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, what happens to Lucy Gray? In this video I discuss how Lucy Gray tells Coriolanus Snow where she is going to go (North away from the districts) and also that there is a song that plays in the credits that is telling Coryo how she will forever taunt him, but he will never be able to catch her. Why are there Adults in NEVERLAND?!? - Peter Pan (2003)

Why are there grown-up pirates in Neverland? And why is there a crocodile that follows Captain Hook (Jason Isaacs)? And why does the same actor play both Mr. Darling and Captain Hook? Today I give my thoughts on my favorite version of Peter Pan. Starring Jeremy Sumpter as Peter and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Wendy. Truman's Unconquerable Soul

The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey, came out in 1998, and it's still relevant today. What is it about this simple Adam and Eve metaphor that still resonates with us? "Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul." The SECRET Opponent in Spider-Man: Homecoming?
The whole damned thing is witchcraft plain and simple
To be some kind of the "odyssey" it sounds its a lot of Jesus in it? Why?
Viva El Trumpaso.
Who else thinks the 'stay out of Woolworths' guy should be up for an Oscar?
Tommy Boy is another movie in which you might also find a deeper meaning. Or perhaps not. I believe under the SNL grade skits there is a profound story being told. Love your channel! Please keep posting.
The characters literally tell us the exact same thing. All you did was change the words a bit.
The movie is a fantasy comedy. We love it because we would all have loved to be like Ferris in High school. But if you want to take a serious look at it, Ferris is really a bad dude. In the original script, he steals money from his dad's safe to pay for the day. Taking the car is a real dik move that in real life would incur severe consequences for both him and Cameron. The way he lies so much to his parents is pretty bad.
Don't forget about Blind Dog Fulton lol
I'm surprised no one attempted a parody of this.
One of my favorite movies. The Farelly Brothers managed to weave comedy and philosophy, while interpreting the Odyssey. A truly inspired story that kept me laughing and tearing up at the same time.
Yes, it is just the right balance.
I thank you for mentioning Tommy Johnson. He is left out of most stories dealing with this subject matter. I love Robert Johnson 's music, I have read or heard the story more times than I can remember. As you say, it was Tommy who first made the claim.
Thank you!
God I love this movie.
Sir it great to know from you, i am honour with your word. How about we try on a movie name Alpha tqvm
2:30 is that blind w johnson
👍
You really should have let the prophet say Ob-stack-el.
I love this movie. I also like this review. The straight and narrow boys, lets get on with it.
It’s my favorite movie ever made
Like the movie, love the music and I'm grateful for the explanation.
I would say I watch this movie 20+ times a year easily. The story, the art, the set, costumes, characters, plot, MUSIC!, sound effects... it's just a great balance.
You’ve got me beat on the number of viewings, but you’re right: It’s very well done and entertaining every time!
it is not a retelling of the odyssey, that's what some people say to sound smart, it just has some similarities, mostly coincidental, others forced
Great movie, great interpretation
one of my favorites movies. The song " a constant sorrow" is amazing. Great Video! <3 I never have "see" this references of the inundation. Thanks! (i will watch thje movie again jaja)
This is really cool story tellinnn keep going man wish u all the best :)
This is what it's come to-smug know-it-alls pandering to people too stupid and/or lazy to draw their own conclusions.
“Smug know-it-all”? Haha! That’s the first time I’ve heard that one. Thanks for your humble assessment.
The director set out To make this movie, directly based off of Homer's Odyssey
I have another O Brother video that you may enjoy that has a quote from director Joel Coen talking about how the Odyssey wasn’t originally part of their plan.
GQ does a video with Tim Blake Nelson breaking down his most iconic rolls, he was Friends of the director and that's how it was pitched to him, was a movie about The Odyssey
@@marcwright8395 Tim Blake Nelson is one of my heroes. Thank you for mentioning him. And you are right, when the script was completed it was "Based on the Odyssey" as it says in the opening credits. My point, which came from an interview with the Cohen brothers on the Charlie Rose show was about the writing of the script and how they realized it was Odyssey-like mid way through the writing process and then went with it. You can see the clip from that interview on my other O Brother video that I made. Now, I can't stop watching Tim Blake Nelson interviews. He is so good!
Surprised you didn't mention the secret organization the boys thwarted to save Tommy.
I have another O Brother video that is focused more on Tommy that you may enjoy.
@@MoralofthisStory Found it. Great video. Thanks from a new subscriber.
@@OffRampTourist Awesome
what a dumb explanation, i just wasted my time
Sorry to waste your time. Have a great day!
Volume sucks dude. Do you ever listen to what your doing? If it;s to loud we can turn it down. Kids.
Thanks for letting me know.
beautiful description of one of my favourite films. I'm secular but I appreciate what you are saying.
Thanks. That means a lot!
Nice random video to pop up
It's beautiful. Too bad there is no god, there is no satan, it's all us here.
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Very well done!
Secondhand Lions would be a great movie to cover.
That is a fun one with some great actors.
It's Homer's Odyssey set in the rural south with music.
Man, this is better than church. This really is an amazing channel.
Hahaha! That could be my tagline: “Better than church “
Amazing work. I’m really glad I found this channel.
i thank you for your service
Thank you!
I just relized that the "devil", Sherrif Cooley, played by Daniel von Bargen, is also Edwin Spangler in Malcolm in the Middle.
Beautiful, great analysis. Amen, god is good!
Woah
left out Baby Face Nelson who represents the Great Depression....gleeful when stealing from honest people and killing cattle
Soul sacrifice playing by the iluminatti....
My Favorite movie of all time.
I saw it when I was very young and I always absolutely loved it, I didn’t understand it but everything about that film is fantastic and getting to grow up with it and learn new things about it and analyse it has been one of the best gifts the world of cinema has ever given me
Pappy o Daniel is also based on a real guy but he was governor of Texas I believe
Yes, I remember reading that. It’s cool that they tied in some real stories.
Judge Dredd: “I am the Law” The Sheriff: “the law? The law is a human institution.”
